World Vegan Day is upon us. The day of action is celebrated on November 1st on the occasion of the founding of the Vegan Society. Everywhere there are events and campaigns that lead to something more within this festival sustainability and without meat nutrition call. So also inside Hamburg.

There, the students managed to insist on a completely vegetarian day in Hamburg’s canteens. Student representatives and the Studierendenwerk carry out the campaign together. On November 1st, all student union canteens in Hamburg will only serve vegetarian food and the “Blattwerk Mensa” is even completely vegan.

The vegetarian menu is impressive

Accompanying events such as conferences, workshops and a large Meet & Eat will also be held. Future students are also involved in this and have long been asking for better vegan options in German canteens. Your argument: climate protection starts on the plate!

From Tuesday to Friday there are vegetarian menus that leave nothing to be desired. The Studierendenwerk has announced that it will try a new vegan or vegetarian dish every weekday. Roasted celeriac and fennel with almond aioli and potato wedges, pasta with chard and tomato and vegetables and cream cheese and mustard sauce, walnut polenta with roasted Brussels sprouts and mushrooms and vegetables, baked pumpkin with curry cream Savoy cabbage and soft wheat – Hamburg students can’t wait for these dishes.

As usual with Fridays for Future, promotions are open to anyone who wants to. The workshops can also be attended by students of friends from Hamburg and anyone else interested.

Cycle of conferences on the climate crisis

In Hamburg there is also one organized by Fridays for Future and AStA lecture series to the climate crisis instead of. Next Tuesday at 6:15 pm there will also be a lesson under the motto “Our house is on fire! – How can we still respect the limit of 1.5 degrees”.

If you can’t be there, turn on your laptop. The conference will be uploaded to the Fridays for Future YouTube channel nationwide so that it is accessible to all interested parties.
